Navigating business with chronic illness.

Hi I’m Cate,
I’m an author, cyclist, business coach, and chronic illness advocate living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). My life took an unexpected turn in 2018 when a sudden MS diagnosis turned my world upside down, leading to a period of complete paralysis that began at exactly 2:33 am one morning. Navigating the grief of lost abilities and the confusion of a new normal wasn't easy, but on two wheels, I found my lifeline. Cycling became my therapy, my freedom, and a powerful reminder that my body was still capable of extraordinary things.
That journey of reclaiming my independence inspired my memoir, 2:33: How MS Woke Me Up to the Life I Was Meant to Ride, which chronicles my solo ride across Victoria on my trusty bike, Sheeba. Today, I’m taking on my most audacious goal yet: a solo, supported 15,000 to 20,000-kilometer expedition around the entire coast of Australia. Through this ride, I’m pedaling to break down stereotypes, highlight the "invisibility of disability," and shine a urgent spotlight on the intersecting crisis of homelessness within vulnerable communities.
When I’m not on the road, I run Help Me Mind My Own Business—a Not-for-Profit dedicated to supporting disabled and chronically ill entrepreneurs—and coach clients using a gentler, more sustainable business framework. I reject toxic hustle culture in favor of radical acceptance, compassionate boundaries, and non-negotiable rest. I’m here for the messy middle: the flare-ups and the finish lines, the rest days and the record-breaking rides. My mission is simple: to prove that a life-changing diagnosis isn't the end of your story, but the beginning of an ambitious, joyful new chapter.
